Illustrator Practice
Pacman:
I started by make a yellow octagon using the pen tool. Then I brought in one of the anchor points to make a Pacman shape and using the Convert Anchor Point Tool, I made the edges of Pacman round. Next, I imported an image of the Pacman ghosts onto the document. I used the eyedropper tool to select the colours of each ghost, and their eyes, and made swatches to use later. Then I dimmed the image of the ghosts. I also used the pen tool the make the ghosts. I started out by tracing over the outline of one of the ghosts but making the top of it round and smooth using the Convert Anchor Point Tool. Then, I control dragged the one ghost to duplicate it and make four, changing the colour of each according to the swatches. I repeated this step for the eyes but instead of using the pen tool to trace the eyes, I used the EllipseTool to create the eyes.
Yoshi:
I started out by importing a picture of pink Yoshi. Then, I made swatches of the colours. Instead of using the pen tool, we used the blob brush tool in black to create the outline of Yoshi. Then, making new layers, we used the other swatches to colour in the Yoshi outline also using the blob brush tool.

Self Portrait
Picture
I started out by importing the selfie onto a letter sized art board. Then on a new layer, I used the eyedropper tool to pick the lightest colour of the face and using the curved pen tool, I created a flat base for the face, tracing over the original photo. My technique was to create a new layer and use the eyedropper tool, made a new layer, and using the blob brush tool to place down the colours where they need to be. Afterwards, I made the selfie layer invisible, brought down the opacity on the colours to use as a blending brush to blend all the colours. I used this technique for the forehead, cheeks, chin, neck, mouth, eyes, nose, and shirt. For the hair and eyebrows, I also used the technique and then made hair strokes using the blob brush tool and the lightest, middle and darkest colours from the hair.
I am personally pretty happy with this piece except for the nose and hair which I feel like are off. The nose's shadows I think is too dark and the hair looks flat and lacking highlights which I tried to add but didn't work and looked very obvious and fake.
